Going through the different stages of a spiritual awakening can be uncomfortable and overwhelming at times. It is important to manage these feelings to continue growing on your path.
Here are some things you can incorporate into your everyday life to make things easier:
Schedule nothing
A while ago I wrote about the importance of scheduling nothing. To stay present and be able to manage unforeseen events with ease, it is important to leave time in your day for nothing. If nothing becomes something, you will be able to handle it comfortably. If nothing stays nothing you can use the time on doing something to uplift your day and build the feeling of gratitude and abundance.
Meditate
Meditation is a fantastic way of quieting your mind and connecting with your soul. Once you have reached that deep state of calm relaxation, you are better able to stay present, see events for what they are and maintain that state of ease no matter what happens during the day. Here is a quick guide on how you can elevate your meditation with crystals.
Spend time outside
Taking time out away from electronics will ground you and give you a sense of calm. Enjoy 15minutes of just sitting on the grass outside listening to the birds, or take a break to walk along the beach barefoot.
Laugh
Stop taking life so seriously and find something to laugh about. We have been given a wonderful opportunity to experience life and everything it has to offer. We learn and grow each day. Laughter is good for the soul, so instead of reading the news – watch a comedy or read a funny book!
Dance
In many cultures and spiritual traditions, dancing is practised as a means of coming closer to spirit and is an expression of that relationship. When you are experiencing a hard day, put on some music and like Meredith and Christina in Grey’s Anatomy – dance it out!
Connect with your community
Spending some time to get to know and help others within your community will give you a wonderful sense of compassion, kindness and gratitude. We are all connected and not designed to carry and experience everything alone. While volunteer work will give us a sense of fulfilment, connecting with others on the same spiritual journey will give you all the support, sense of being and understanding you need.
Practice gratitude
Often, we are swept up in the difficulties and challenges we face, forgetting to be grateful for the little things in life. Instead of focussing on that which is not yet working, make it a daily ritual to name and be grateful for the little things you enjoy each day. Many people start a gratitude journal, which is a great way and reminder of that which we have to be thankful for. The feeling of gratitude puts us in receptive mode from which more things we truly desire will flow.
Next, we will be looking at affirmations – what are they, why are they important and how do you use them?
