Stress and anxiety are common occurrences for most people and can get out of hand quickly when not managed well. Here are some tips on how you can bring down your stress levels and relieve anxiety in a natural way:

Meditate

One of the first things I teach my clients is how to meditate. When you meditate you focus your mind away from everything that is causing you stress or anxiety. Once you have achieved that deep state of calm relaxation you will be better able to navigate through events that upset you.

Crystal Healing

Crystal Energy Healing is a gentle non-invasive holistic form of vibrational healing that assists with balancing the energy centres in your body and correcting leaks in the auric field around you. By balancing your energy and getting rid of negative energy patterns your body is restored to its natural state leaving you feeling calm, rejuvenated, and energised.

Avoid Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant that triggers your ‘flight or fight response and increases your anxiety. While caffeine can improve alertness, attention, and cognitive function, overdoing it can lead to anxiety and even cause a panic attack.

Exercise

Doing some physical exercise at least 3 times a week is probably one of the most important things you can do to bring down your stress levels. It can be as simple as going for a walk, playing outside with the kids, dancing to some music when no one is looking or taking a yoga class.
Benefits of regular exercise:

  • It lowers the body’s stress hormones and releases endorphins.
  • Being physically active during the day can improve your sleep quality, leaving you refreshed the next day.
  • It can boost your confidence because it increases your physical wellbeing.

Get enough sleep

Sleep is a powerful stress-reducer. Getting enough quality sleep at night will calm and restore your body which will improve concentration, regulate your mood as well as sharpen your judgment and decision making. You will be better at handling challenging situations successfully when you get enough sleep.

Ashwagandha as a supplement

Ashwagandha is a medicinal herb that has been scientifically proven to be effective in helping the body manage stress. This is widely available and a safe supplement for most people, however, should not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.  **It is always best to consult your doctor when you are on chronic medication before taking any supplements.

Other benefits include boosting brain function, lower blood sugar and cortisol levels and assisting in fighting symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Start a gratitude journal

By focussing on what you are grateful for, on what you already have, you can relieve your stress and anxiety. When you focus on the positive your mind opens up to possibilities.

Learn to say no

Often, the reason we experience stress and anxiety is by over-extending ourselves, which can leave us feeling overwhelmed. By learning how to say no, you can create the time you need to accomplish the tasks you need to without feeling stressed or creating anxiety. Take control of the parts in your life you can change so that you are able to navigate the parts that you can’t change, successfully.

By making these small changes in your daily life you will see visible improvements in no time.
